A Turkey-tastic Holiday Tradition

The Feed the Turkey Game

A Fun and Festive Activity for the Whole Family

A few years ago, I embarked on a delightful holiday tradition with my little one: the Feed the Turkey game. This playful activity not only brings laughter and joy but also fosters creativity and fine motor skills.

We begin by drawing a large turkey outline on a piece of paper. Then, we cut out colorful feathers and other decorations and let our imaginations run wild. My child loves gluing on the feathers and adding googly eyes, a beak, and even a Santa hat to give the turkey its festive flair.

To play the game, we create small balls of playdough. We take turns rolling the playdough balls and tossing them at the turkey's mouth. Each time a ball lands inside the turkey's mouth, we earn a point. The first person to reach a predetermined score wins.

Not only is this game an excellent way to practice hand-eye coordination, but it also encourages counting and simple math concepts. We count the points we earn and use it as a teaching opportunity to reinforce number recognition and addition skills.

The Feed the Turkey game has become an integral part of our holiday celebrations. It's a creative, joyful, and educational activity that brings us closer together as a family. As we gather around the table, laughter and holiday cheer fill the air, and the festive turkey creation adds a touch of whimsy to our special time.
