2020 NBA Draft Recap: 76ers Select Tyrese Maxey, Knicks Trade Leandro Bolmaro
Philadelphia Adds a Talented Guard with Maxey
The Philadelphia 76ers made a shrewd move in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft, selecting Tyrese Maxey with the 21st overall pick.
Maxey, a 6'3" guard from Kentucky, was initially projected to be a lottery pick. However, he surprisingly remained available late in the first round, giving the 76ers an unexpected opportunity. With their selection, the 76ers add a talented and versatile guard to their young and promising roster.
Knicks Acquire Bolmaro from Timberwolves
In a separate move, the New York Knicks traded Leandro Bolmaro, the 23rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves received a future second-round pick in return.
Bolmaro, a 6'7" guard from Argentina, is considered one of the most promising young prospects in international basketball. He was highly touted for his athleticism, defensive versatility, and passing ability.
The Knicks, who have been rebuilding their roster in recent years, view Bolmaro as a potential building block for their future. The 21-year-old will join a young and exciting core of players in New York, including R.J. Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, and Obi Toppin.
