Alcaraz Defeats Sinner In Five Set Thriller

Carlos Alcaraz reaches French Open final after epic semi-final win

Alcaraz defeats Sinner in five-set thriller

Alcaraz, the world number one, moved a step closer to a maiden French Open title by beating incoming rival Jannik Sinner in a jittery seesawing semi-final on Friday evening.

The 21-year-old Spaniard, who is the youngest player to reach the final of the French Open since Rafael Nadal in 2005, battled from behind to defeat the Italian in a match that lasted over four hours.

Alcaraz won the first set 6-3, but Sinner hit back to take the second set 6-4. Alcaraz then regained the lead by winning the third set 6-2, but Sinner again levelled the match by winning the fourth set 6-4.

The fifth set was a tense affair, with both players holding serve until Alcaraz broke Sinner's serve in the 11th game. Alcaraz then served out the match to win 6-4 and reach his first Grand Slam final.

Alcaraz will face either Nadal or Alexander Zverev in the final on Sunday.
