The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals Presented by on Tuesday night. The Celtics improved to 47-12 on the season, while the Mavericks fell to 34-26.

Kristaps Porzingis, who returned from a calf injury, led the Mavericks with 20 points, including 18 in the first half. Luka Doncic added 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, but he shot just 6-of-21 from the field.

The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who scored 29 points. Jaylen Brown added 22 points, and Marcus Smart chipped in with 15 points.

The Celtics took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 33-17. Boston led by 19 points at halftime and never looked back.

Game 2 of the series will be played in Boston on Thursday night.
