Two Polish referees have been detained in a corruption probe, it has been reported. Bartosz Frankowski and Tomasz MusiaĆ were reportedly arrested in the Polish city of Lublin early Tuesday morning for questioning over alleged match-fixing.
Frankowski had been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for the third qualifying round first leg clash between Dynamo Kyiv and Rangers on Tuesday night.
Both referees were scheduled to work in the VAR room during the UEFA Champions League game.
According to Polish media outlet TVP Sport, Frankowski and MusiaĆ are both referees in the Ekstraklasa, the top division of Polish football.
The Polish Football Association (PZPN) said on Tuesday that the pair will not be involved in the Champions League game.
The match officials for each UEFA Champions League game will appear on the UEFA website as soon as they are confirmed.
